Happy Summer Solstice. My friend and great astrologer Lorelei Robbins says (http://loreleilive.com/):
“The Summer Solstice is a powerful time to leave the old behind and create the new. Ask yourself what emotions, patterns, and behaviors no longer serve you. And what do you desire to have in your life now? This is the time to remember:
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND
KNOCK AND IT SHALL BE OPENED TO YOU.”
What are you creating today? What are you letting go of? This is a powerful time of the year to make a list. Meditate, contemplate, journal and spend the next few days evaluating what works and what doesn’t. Then take action and do what you love doing, working towards your goals one step at a time.

New Beginnings
Monday, June 21st, 2010The Retirement Mindset
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010A few years ago I told my dad that I was trying to retire within 5 years. He said, “What will you do then?” Good question. What would I do? Would I read more? Watch more movies? Get more exercise? Travel? I realized that I’m doing as much of that as I’d like to now. I’ve been pondering this dilemma ever since. Would I be bored if I retired? If so, was I bound to working for the rest of my life?
I had an “ah ha” realization in Sedona a few weeks ago. I’d had enough work. It was time to release myself from my present obligations and stop working. I retired immediately. I was no longer obligated to do anything. I could now do whatever I wanted to. I was done and complete. If boredom was my plight, I’d face it. I was done. What a release and a relief.
So how has retirement changed my life? Not much. Now that I’m retired, I can do what I want. So, I do intuitive coaching. In fact, I’m doing more of it than before. I’m busy helping to restructure the behavior, communication and workflow of an international company. At the same time I’m acting as the interim CFO of my husband’s company (Bassett Printing). I realized that I LIKE doing all of this.
I’m exercising more than I did before I retired. Because of this I’m able to run again, while still working out with weights and doing yoga. I’m spending a lot of time with friends and with my husband. I’ve read several books in the past few weeks. Most of them novels.
I know it sounds like I’m very busy, and it’s true. I am. I’m at least as busy as I was before I retired. But, I’m having A LOT more fun. Why? Because I know I don’t have to do any of it. I’m retired. The retirement mindset is setting the stage for bliss. Just thinking about being retired makes me smile. I’m more relaxed knowing that I can do anything I want.
I’ve read quotes from many of our famous entrepreneurs that say we must do what we love in order to be successful. I can now tell you from a new perspective that this is absolutely true. When we let go of our obligations and self expectations, our fears and limiting beliefs, we can do what we do best. Few of us are actually couch potatoes. Most of us like to DO stuff. I love to do exactly what I’m doing now: Writing to you.
What do you love to do? You may consider retirement – from your beliefs, obligations and expectations. I’d love to hear about how you prosper once you do.
Thanks to the Pet Shop Boys for the Wisdom
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Listened do an “oldey” the other day and realized that The Pet Shop Boys gave perfect advice on how to judge if something is working for you or not: “Oh, I missed it. The more that it hurts, the less that it works.”
Somewhere in time I was taught that pain means gain. After years of dealing with pain I have to say, and years of gain, this is dead wrong. I don’t agree that we have to experience pain to have gain. My gain was not proportional to my pain. I’m giving up this limiting belief and embracing a new belief: Joy leads to more joy. Success is born from doing what feels good, not what hurts.
I’m not saying that life isn’t full of challenges. They happen. I can and will learn the lessons and move on. But, I don’t have to buy into the pain and do what hurts in order to get to where I want to go. Instead, I prefer to do what feels right and good right now.
I am now creating a fulfilling and successful life one breath at a time. Starting now.

Be Certain
Friday, February 26th, 2010“To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
You’re at the movies. They’re showing a baseball game and it’s the final inning. The score is tied. The bases are loaded and there are two outs, 3 fouls and 2 strikes on the board. The pitcher is winding up and the batter is in place, ready to hit. What’s the next film shot? The camera pans in to the eyes of the pitcher and then the batter. What are we looking for? Certainty. The person who wins will be the one who is not only confident, but knows deep in his gut that he’s going to be the one who wins. He has the resolve, the intent and the knowing that he will take the challenge and come out on top, no matter what the final outcome. In order to be successful, you need to act from this place of certainty.
We’re seeing the same thing while watching the Olympics. What do they pan on? The face. What are we looking for? Confidence and certainty. How do does the Olympian get there? What does this athlete do just before the music starts or before pushing off for the jump?
People who succeed do so with certainty. They make mistakes, but they move on. Whatever you do – whether walking out the door, making an investment or doing the equivalent of your own ski jump – do it with certainty.
Envision Your Life
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010Imagine that you’ve decided to travel. You’ve marked the time off on your calendar and are excited to go. What will you need to do to prepare for your trip? I assume there are people who just go to the airport or train station and buy a ticket to some destination. They have no plans or intentions for the trip. It’s an “anything goes” scenario. And, anything goes. They get whatever comes their way.
However, if you’re like me you take a different approach. You first decide where you’re going to go. How long will you be there? What will you see? How will you get there and where will you stay? You’ll check out the climate to so you know what to bring with you. By the time you leave you have a good understanding of what to expect and can imagine or visualize what you’ll do and see on your vacation. This planning and visualization helps you to create the type of trip you’ll have. Barring unforeseen circumstances your plans will be fairly accurate and you’ll have the vacation you’ve dreamed of..
You plan your vacations but do you plan your life? Have you planned your year? What do you want to do within the next year? Do you know what you want to have happen to you? Do you know where you want to go and what you want to do? Planning and visioning your life is as important – even more so – than planning your vacation. Going through the process of creating a Vision Board is an excellent means of planning and visualizing your life. Below is a summary of the steps that you’ll need to take to do so.
Why does planning and visioning work? Einstein revealed to us that everything is energy moving at different rates, including human bodies. Matter is merely energy moving slow enough to be detected by the five human senses. Our thoughts are energetic signals that pulsate through our brains, sending waves of energy through and around us. Our beliefs are repetitive, energetic thought patterns. These belief “thought patterns” significantly influence our lives.
What we think and believe is reflected in the energy inside and surrounding us. We create whatever we believe and think. You can use your thoughts to make what you want in your life happen for you. There are six steps that you can take to get what you want:
1. Really want something.
Remember when you were a kid? “Wanting” came naturally to you. Want something now. Feel it. Taste it. Don’t hold back. Let the thoughts of what you want free flow. The strength of your desire will fuel the signal that you send out into the world.
2. Define it clearly.
Next, define exactly what it is you want. Be very specific. The world around us has a lot to offer. The possibilities are endless. It helps a lot to be clear when you’re asking for something. You probably wouldn’t walk into a department store and say, “I want some new clothes.” You’d have to tell the salesperson exactly what you’re looking for. For example, “I’d like a pair of black pants sweat pant, size medium, light-weight, machine washable and less than $60.” It’s important to define all of your desires clearly.
3. Clear your resistance to having it.
Your thinking and beliefs may not support your wants and needs. If your thinking and beliefs are contrary to your desires you will cancel out the desires. You will prevent what you want from coming to you.
In order to be the magnet that attracts what you want your beliefs must support your needs, dreams and desires. For example, I had a client who asked for prosperity and abundance in her life. She was tired of being poor and struggling paycheck to paycheck. When we spoke it became clear that she believed that wealthy people are arrogant and self-indulgent. I pointed out that it would be difficult to attract wealth if she believed she was going to become that type of person. She needed to reevaluate her belief and bust it before she could allow herself to have more money.
If you aren’t getting what you want look at how you may be standing in your own way with limiting beliefs and thoughts. Clear your resistance.
4. Ask for it.
There are many ways of asking for what you want. You can pray, meditate, write it down, tell people about it, scream it from a mountaintop. However you do it, be sure that you’ve opened the path to receiving what you want by asking for it.
5. Visualize having it
Here is where a Vision Board becomes an important tool. Once you’ve defined, cleared and asked for what you want you need to see it happening for you. A Vision Board helps you do this.
Cut out photos, pictures and words that most reflect what it is you want. Don’t overdo it or it will look confusing. Narrow down your selections so they most clearly reflect and express what you want. Tape these to a medium-sized board. Mount the board somewhere where you’ll see it often. Viewing the board will lend power to your projection. You can change these words and graphics, as you need to. Your vision will be as fluid as your life.
6. Let go and have faith that it will come
The above technique is almost magical. If you believe it will work for you it will. You’ve defined your trip, planned it, visualized it – you’re packed and ready to go. Know that the energy that you project will be mirrored back to you and you’ll receive all that you desire. Let it go, let it happen and you’ll be living the life you will be shortly living the life you dreamed.
Tricia Molloy and I are co-teaching a Vision Board Workshop that will help you to take these ideas deeper and project your desires more clearly. This workshop will launch your transformational process to create your dream life. For more information or to sign up go to: http://www.TheAwarenessInitiative.com/store

How A Woman Works
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009I finished dinner, dishes … and was getting ready to head upstairs to bed when I realized I had to balance my bank statements. I’d been putting them off too long and wanted to get them out of the way.
So, I went to the computer to reconcile my quickbooks/quicken accounts with the online statements.
However, I read my emails first … answered a few … and saw one from a friend. She had forwarded an email about a boy who was dying of cancer and wanted Christmas cards before he died.
I went online and checked the validity of the email and it was not spam. There was a new address for the cards, however.
I went back to my friend’s email and forwarded the link for the new address to all of her recipients.
I then went in search of a Christmas card.
There weren’t any in my adjoining closet.
None in the closet downstairs.
None in the office supply storage in the garage.
While I’m in the garage I open the garage door to check on the storm drain. It’s Fall and it’s storming heavily. The leaves wash into the storm drain and clog it. This causes the garage to flood. I’ve racked leaves away 5 times today. I see that it’s clogged again and go out in the rain, at 10 pm to rake leaves.
That done, I’m back to finding the Christmas card for the 5 year old somewhere in Michigan.
Oh yes, I remember Dave and I created a separate box for cards and put it on one of the garage shelves.
But, there’s a large piece of glass in front of the box that we hadn’t moved yet.
So, I began to move it.
But, there were some chairs in the place where the glass should go. So, I moved those.
This almost knocked down a lamp that needed to find a home. I took it into the downstairs room and found a place for it on a table. There were two smaller lamps on this table that I had to relocate. I redecorated the basement (OK, just a the part where the lamps were to go), and went out in search of the card.
First I had to replace the chairs. There was an empty computer monitor box behind the place where the chairs were that needed to go into the attic. I pulled it out. I placed the glass where it needed to go, replaced the chairs, found a Christmas card, brought it and the computer monitor box upstairs, addressed the card and then … began reconciling the bank statements (remember those?).
2 hours later I’m getting ready to go upstairs to bed. And, I will once I finish this email and put the computer monitor box into the attic. Hopefully, there will be nothing in the attic for me to do.
I called my husband Dave to tell him this story. He said his approach would have been, “I’m too tired. I’ll do the card tomorrow. And, the bank statements can wait too.”
Ah, the differences between us.
Auto Miracle
Sunday, October 25th, 2009I love “miracle” stories. They happen all of the time. But some of them are just fantastical. I know that nothing is coincidental and things and events line up for us all of the time. But, sometimes the synchronicity of events is mind boggling. Such a boggle happened today.
My husband drove off with dog “Annie” in tow at 3:30 pm on Sunday, to meet her new pet sitter.
I stayed at home waiting for a vendor to visit. It’s very rare for me to meet with clients or vendors over the weekend. But Scott Barnes, who will redo my shopping cart for me, works at another job during the week. We were to meet for the first time at 4, but he was a few minutes late.
While waiting for him husband Dave called. He was frantic. A belt on his car had just popped. He was a couple miles from the pet sitter’s and far from me. He didn’t know what to do. I wasn’t familiar with that part of town and it was Sunday. Who would be open? Who could we call? And worse, his towing service card had expired.
I was listening to him over the phone getting more and more upset when the doorbell rings. It’s Scott, my shopping cart guy. We shook hands and I immediately told him that I was on the phone with my husband who was having car trouble. I had a hunch to ask Scott if he knew any place that handled Mercedes repairs in the area where my husband was located. Scott said that a friend of his owned a used car dealership that dealt with Mercedes. The dealership had a shop. AND it was a mile from where Dave was at the moment!!
Scott guided Dave to the shop, called his shop friend, who called Dave. The car was left safely at the perfect place for the repair. They’ll work on it first thing in the morning.
Can it be a coincidence that all of those pieces fit together perfectly like that? I really don’t think so. That scenario was far too complicated.
Let’s add on one more component. Tomorrow evening Dave’s headed to his printing plant in rural VA. Someone was watching over him. The belt broke before he got himself into a desperate situation.
We are truly blessed and cared for. Miracles do happen every day. I’m very thankful!
Unlimiting Your Life
Thursday, October 15th, 2009Below is the basic information that is discussed on the first episode of the “Unlimited Success and Fulfillment” radio show on October 16 at 1 PM EST. I will also be coaching people live on the show. Tune in tomorrow, or the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at http://www.divatoolbox.com/diva-toolbox-radio-/hosts/1904-deborah-hill-unlimited-success-and-fulfillment.html, just call in at (724) 444-7444, code 6400#. All episodes will be based upon this information.
Do you think of yourself as a unique powerhouse of dynamic energy, capable of creating a perfect life for yourself? You really are such a person. Creating a wonderful life for yourself is your birthright, and you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t right for the job. You have a wealth of abilities and talents that can catapult you into productive action. You’re an amazing, talented individual – able to build, create, expand, enjoy, triumph, fly. But you may not have the life you’d hoped for.
Walt Disney once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” If that’s true, why aren’t you the master of your universe, leaping tall obstacles in a single bound? How did this dynamic powerhouse that we call “you” get hung up in pursuit of your dreams? It could be that you are simply standing in your own way. YOU may be your biggest obstacle. How? Your beliefs may be blocking you from being and doing all you can.
Einstein revealed to us that everything is energy moving at different rates, including human bodies. Matter is merely energy moving slow enough to be detected by the five human senses: Seeing, hearing, tasting, feeling, and smelling. Our thoughts are energetic signals that pulsate through our brains, sending waves of energy through and around us. Our beliefs are repetitive, energetic thought patterns. Think of them as programmed vibrations within the brain. These belief “thought patterns” significantly influence our lives.
What we think and what we believe is reflected in the energy inside and surrounding us. Our thought and belief energy is projected from us like a radio tower projects radio waves. These energetic projections tell the universe and the people in it what’s happening in our world. All of the other radio towers around us pick up this signal that we are broadcasting, and they respond accordingly. Everything around us will respond in-kind to this thought and belief frequency. If we believe we’re a failure, we broadcast this to the world and the world responds in kind. Likewise, if we believe we are well respected and successful we project it and it’s mirrored back to us. Others tune in to our frequency and respond to it in much the same way they respond to what we physically say and do.
What we think and believe helps to steer us through life and is mirrored back at us. You can use your thoughts to make what you want in your life happen for you. Here are five steps that you take to do it:
1. Really want something
2. Define it clearly
3. Clear your resistance to having it
4. Ask for it.
5. Visualize having it
6. Have faith. Know it’s coming. Don’t nag.
The above steps work, but limiting thoughts and beliefs may not support your wants and needs.
Your thinking and your beliefs create a vibration that may not support your wants and needs. In order to create what you want, your beliefs must support your needs, dreams and desires. What do you believe? It’s important to pay attention to this if you want to create your perfect life.
There are several indications that you can help you pinpoint when this is happening. The first and foremost indicator is that you aren’t getting what you want after going though the above steps. Here are some more limiting belief indicators (Go to www.theawarenessinitiative.com home page for a free download that elaborates on these and how to change limiting beliefs).
1. Repetitive Patterns
2. Negative Emotions
3. Unproductive thoughts
4. Continual comments from others
We each have our own unique hang-ups or beliefs that we can change. We also share a number of common limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs may be keeping you from creating the life you desire. You can change them. Armed with this new awareness and technique, you’ll soon be able to replace your limiting beliefs with your own powerful truths.
Honoring Our Differences
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009We know that we are all different. Each one of us has habits that work for us, but not for others. In fact, our habits and behaviors may be very irritating to someone else – especially a mate or someone we work with. I’m learning that if I step back and evaluate the differences objectively I may be able to not only accept them, I can benefit from them.
For example, my husband, Dave, and I are very different in some ways. One place we differ is in how we approach a task. I like to get things done as quickly and efficiently as possible. I dive into it and focus on only the task at hand. Dave takes his time and is more relaxed about when things get done.
One day we were involved in fixing things around the house. We needed some tools to complete the task and went to Home Depot. My mind was on the task at hand, knowing that we had plans for the evening. I felt that we needed to work quickly on the repairs so that we’d be finished before dinner.
When we arrived at Home Depot I went right for the tool aisle and found an employee to help me find the correct tool. I directly asked for the tool I was looking for, and when he answered I thanked him and went to get the tool.
Dave was appalled. He felt that I’d mistreated the employee. His approach would have been to introduce himself to the person, be friendly and make some pleasant conversation before asking for information. I felt like I didn’t have time for all the conversation. I just wanted to get the job done.
It took some work, but we eventually were able to see that our different styles can actually be complementary. I keep track of time and Dave’s the PR guy. Dave gathers information and gets to know everyone while I get the tool or products we need.
We’re actually learning from each other, as well. After being around him for some time I find myself asking people’s names and taking a little more time with them – even though I’m on a “mission.” Dave, on the other hand, has become a lot more focused on doing things within a certain time period.
I’m learning that the habits in others that cause me the most angst may be the ones that complement me and teach me the most. So much to learn.
