Skribit? What’s a Skribit?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I want to take a moment to let you know about a recent addition to this blog. You may  have noticed a box on the left side of the page labeled “Skribit Suggestions.” Basically it is the old-fashioned idea of a suggestion box, but it has been brought up-to-date with Internet technology.

If you have an idea you’d like to discuss in this blog, or perhaps a question you’d like answered, you can submit it just by entering it through the Skribit box. You can also vote on suggestions made by others.

I began The Awareness Initiative Blog to help you to create a successful and fulfilling life. It is my hope that tools like Skribit offer new ways for you to participate in the blog; so I can better serve your needs and help more people on the road to transforming their lives.

The New Tipping Point

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I recently visited an amazing exhibit at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. It was a display entitled The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army, and showed the amazing statues that surrounded the remains of the first amazing emperor of China. The exhibit also tells about his life and accomplishments, which were amazing. One thing that struck me was his philosophy: “Men are inherently evil and need to be controlled.” This contrasted with the earlier philosophy of Confucious: “People are inherently good and need to be believed in.” Both of these philosophies are correct. We are all evil and we are all inherently good. Each day we have situations that give us opportunities to tip in the evil or good direction – to follow what we know is right or not; to be ethical or not. Our entire world is facing this tipping point. A restructuring of values and goals is shaping us and leading us to embrace the good in us. Those that don’t are facing seriousl difficulties in their lives – or will shortly.

I know several people, who like myself, try to overlook the evil in the world and focus on the good. Unfortunately, this blindsided approach often leads to problems when we get sideswiped by some evil scheme or malintentioned person. I now see life and people for what they are and avoid the evil. It’s there, but I don’t have to be around it, or buy into it. It’s a good example, in fact, for me to look within and do even more evil cleansing. Each glimpse at evil is an affirmation to me to honor the good within and tip correctly in each moment. To act with integrity, and do the right thing. I also watch my thoughts and eliminate ineffective negative beliefs and criticisms of myself and others.

I may not change the world, but each tip changes the world around and within me.

Prayers and Gratefulness

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Welcome to my daily musings column. My intention with this blog is to share with you the insights I’ve gained daily in my intuitive coaching practice and life. If you’d like more information about me, you can go to my website: www.yourintuitivelife.com.

Today I awaken with a prayer of thanks in my heart for the safety of my family in San Diego. It’s difficult to imagine, even with all of the CNN visuals, the impact their experience with this fire has had. I am so very impressed with the images from the streets. Qualcom Stadium had childcare set up, yoga classes and counseling. People were calm and helpful. My husband, Dave, overheard a radio announcer a few days ago. He was referring to the fact that people were evacuating to the stadium and inferred that mayhem would break loose there. It didn’t. Quite the contrary. The people there have banded together supporting each other. In fact, the word in San Diego is to not send more relief goods to Qualcom Stadium. They have enough!

We are all subject to stress in our lives. These stresses are an opportunity for growth. I can’t imagine the kind of stress that these people are going through, but the evidence I’ve seen is that many people there are taking these events in stride, learning, growing and moving on.

I will continue to send prayers for the healing and safety of those in San Diego. I find that prayer is one of the most effective techniques to promote change. Prayer for me involves going into a deep state of connection with the highest spirit that I refer to as God (both male and female) and communicating at that level. I try to keep the prayer clear, giving specific details about what I’d like to see happen. For example, when my sister and brother-in-law evacuated their home I asked that their home be protected. I visualized a light of gold surrounding their house as a protective shield. I also requested angelic support to keep the home safe.

I will also continue to be so very grateful for all that I have and the experiences and support I’ve been given. I will continue to express my thanks for my family, friends, associates, home, the bird that sings out my window . . . My body, my health and every breath.
